JUNE 2003
Monday - June
2, 2003 I spent the day lounging around and resting before my work week starts. I could not believe that today, the 3rd day of June, it was 57 degrees out this morning. I had to wear my jacket to work! We play darts at LZ tonight. We were short one person (Bill Grant) and I was able to round up a temporary player, Greg Woulf. He was really good and we ended up winning! I just came home and as soon as Skip got up, I went to bed! I was so tired today. After work today, Lisa Z. took me to Jay International where I bought 50 more pounds of rice and some supplies. Then she took me to Schnucks where I spend another $50. Including 3 port should picnic roasts at .59 cents per pound! ($12.60). I came home and put one of the on to cook in the pressure cooker. I made a great dish with rice, egg & pork roast for the "Coor Com meeting" in the morning. Dr. Jost and L. Davidson were in attendance at the meeting this morning. I did not get to bed until after 2:00am last night thought and I was about "dead" for the meeting! I thought it would NEVER end!! I went home this evening and just crashed early. I was too tired. Saturday - June
7, 2003 This was a beautiful day (finally). It has been crappy all week. I can't believe we have had such cool weather all the way into June! However, I just sat inside at the computer all day long. I had a great time corresponding on the [tsalagi] group on Yahoo. I made some neat neat friends (Ruby, Ron and Tawn). My knowledge of Tsalagi has taken a few steps forward! That is good. I stayed up until 3:00am in the morning, drinking beer and writing emails!
Today was the FESTIVAL OF NATIONS at Tower Grove Park. I got up around 9:30a and took K-dog for a walk, then showered off and went down to the park for this event. I seem to have left my green shirt in California last week, so I had to wear something different to this event. I wore my Cherokee Nations baseball shirt and (for the first time) my arrowhead-Kokopelli pendant. I had a pretty good time, even thought I was all by myself.
I learned that Lola K. was one of those who lost their jobs in Orlando City hall today. I am very sorry to hear that. Several others too. I hope no more of my friends are so stricken, but I hope they all decide to find jobs elsewhere. Buddy Dyer's "streamlining" of the City is likely to destroy the City of Orlando. I sent an email to Dyer last night expressing my feelings. Not that it will do any good. The damage is done. City employees are being fired left and right and escorted from the building in droves. How awful. I thought about going to Talayna's after work, but changed my mind and just went home. I didn't get to bed until much later than I intended, a bit after 1:00a. 8:17a - THIS morning is NOT very nice! It's cold, windy and rainy! Kira got me up around 5:00a with her barking at the storm. So, I got about 4 hours sleep I suppose. I will be tired today and I have darts tonight. I have slipped down to the 29th position (from 6th). Ah, well... ...and we lost at darts tonight. I did not take my meds tonight. I am so very tired! I felt awful this morning. The chemistry shift caused by no meds and the lack of sleep were exhausting. I had to call in sick today. I think that uses up my sick time for this year. Thursday - June
12, 2003 I felt much better today. So much so that I went to Talayna's after work. I took some Tsalagi material with me and learned a lot (before the beer started to blur my thinking!).
Today was the first EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION DAY for Wash. U. It was also a very stereotypical "Friday the 13th." We had a freaky thunderstorm and IDXrad crashed BIG time. It was a real pain. I was tired this evening, and just sat at home. I had a few beers and that was about it. This was a nice day. I got up fairly early and took K-dog out. I decided to go watch "Almighty Bruce" at The Esquire. The "Race for the Cure" marathon was going on this morning however, and it had the busses rerouted. Skip went to Soulard, and I, after two tries, finally caught the #52 and went to Clayton. I ate lunch at Boston Chicken. I *love* their food! I (as usual) got there creamed spinach and Macaroni and cheese and a quarter chicken. (white this time). The movie was entertaining, but as I had been warned, all the trailers leading up to the movie's release sorta gave much of the movie away! It was still good, but it would have been better if I had not seen most it. These "trailers" are starting to be "spoilers" in my opinion! I went to the Schnuck's there in Clayton after the movie. I thought I would catch the 4:00p bus, but I was doing a lot of shopping for Skip and it took a little to long, so I just stretched the shopping out to 5:00p. I got home before 6:00p (barely). I went to Hooter's tonight (with my book) around 9:45-ish. I had some more of those Buffalo Strips (911) like last weekend; they were festive! I came home and remembered that I had not gone to the store next door, so I had to order out for some beer from Mauricio's. OUTRAGEOUS prices!! ... but, that's what one has to expect. This was pretty much a LAZY day. I got up before noon (around 11:40a) and took Kira out. Bless her heart! She is so good! I needed to do laundry, but I just could not get up the energy. The same thing goes for the kitchen (a major bachelor style disaster). I did finally make it over to the mall to do some shopping. I got more vitamins and supplements, plus candles. The usual. The I went over to Famous Barr. Diana had given me some coupons. I was able to find myself four pairs of pants. Regular price was $48. On sale for $29.00. The coupons took of 20%. I bought three pair of these plus one slightly cheaper pair for a total of $98.00!! Not too bad (though I still felt queasy spending that much money of clothes!). I was full of energy this morning. I wore a pair of my new pants to work (of course). I don't know why, but I seemed to get extra "energy" by wearing new clothes! Of course, some of the air was let out of my balloon when half way through the day I found the size sticker was still pasted down the side of my leg. We had a little party thingy for Robin's stepdaughter who is having a baby. I dropped a prescription off at the Barnes South pharmacy at lunch. I also order Kira some heart worm pills rom petmeds.com. (The generic "IverGard" which was cheaper that "HartGuard"). I took a dip in the pool for the first time this evening! It was SO refreshing! Then I had some beers while Diana came over and spent an hour or 2 on the computer. 10:50p - I have finally caught up my journal for about 6 days! Skip is up & getting ready for work. I am watching TV on my PC. I am happy to be caught up. 7:23a - I hate getting up in the mornings. I am going to make rice this morning. I bet Gary will be happy. Darn... I left the lid off the rice! It's not going to be right :( 10:02p - Lisa Z. gave me a ride home tonight. Top Gun is going on at Mag's tonight, but we decided not to attend. I went to the pool after work .. it was very relaxing. 7:51a - I feel awful this morning. I did not sleep well at all. I went to bed at 11p, but woke up at 2am. I was awake for a couple of hours. I finally got to sleep, but I didn't sleep very soundly. Time to take Kira out. Hope the caffeine kicks in soon. 9:41p - I went in an hour late this morning. Partly because I was so tired, and partly because the darn bathroom light was messed up. Skip fixed it when he got home. (It turned out to be a simple connection problem. I felt crappy most of the day. I picked up my prescription during lunch and just had a salad for lunch. My last order of pills came in the mail this evening. I am good for another 3 months. I scheduled an doctors appointment for tomorrow and will take the remainder of the afternoon off. 10:59p - I am going to bed ... early tonight. 7:41a - I feel much better this morning than I did yesterday. However, even though I went to bed at 11:00p, I did not get to sleep very quickly. Actually, I remember looking at the clock at 11:20p and thinking that Skip would be leaving in 5 minutes. I fell asleep in those 5 minutes; he turned out the lights and left and I never heard a thing. However, I woke just before midnight and got up to turn off the radio and start my Native American flute music which I prefer to sleep to and did not fall back to sleep until sometime after 1:00a! 7:53a - It's cloudy out this morning. I get off work early today at 2:00p to go get some blood work done. 8:50a - Skip just called. It's raining he says and advises I take m 'brollie. Of course. I took the afternoon off. I was SO tired today. I came home from work and basically crashed. No beer. No NOTHIN'!
Skip and I went to the St. Louis "City Museum" today. I took lots of pictures. Unfortunately, they were having a "Catholics Children's Day" today too, so it was not exactly our "cup o tea." We left there and went to Hooter's where we downed some well deserved beers and spiced chicken by-products, then headed home. I took a dip in the pool and sat in the sauna (where I met "Chris") and then spent the rest of the evening in front of this dang'ed computer! 12:47a - Skip is up... I am tired... TIME FOR BED! This was a productive day (once I got out of bed at 11:45a). I got laundry done, bathed Kira and made it just in time to catch the bus. I went over to Chase Park Plaza and watched "The Hulk." I enjoyed it. The special effects were great and the story line kept me interested. It got a little complicated, but I did not mind that. Some of these special effects movies tend to have lots of special effects only; no story line or not very mentally engaging. I walked from the theater over to the Metro and took the train to Union Station where I had a few beers & some wings (big surprise). I came home and took a dip in the pool (a quick one); walked Kira, got my 'wheresgeorge' entries caught up; and also got my towels from the dryer! (I had forgotten them!). 8:28a - I feel good this morning. It's a "uwoduh'iga" (beautiful day)! Rice is cooking for lunch. And I am running behind schedule. Better hurry! Discussed with Ken & Calisa about buying a marker for Mom's Grave today. It was surprising and depressing to learn from Ken (who just took a trip to WA to visit Mom's grave) that the site was unmarked! The marker on her grave was, unbeknownst to us, only a temporary one. I was up until 2:00a discussing this with Calisa. I was exhausted after being up so late and the emotional stress from last night. I had to take 4 hours off work this morning. It was was a good rest. I felt much better with a couple more hours of rest. We won our dart game tonight! I actually took out four of the games, including the very last 501 game! That may raise my rank a bit. Very tired though. 1:03a - I am still up. Had to fix something to eat, answer email, update my journal, and just finished watching an episode of Star Gate (the one where the go to the planet which was like the dark ages and had to submit sacrifices to Sokar's Unas. Great episode). Well... off to bed... 7:41a - My alarm just went off... 7:42a - There.... turned it off. Got a decent night's sleep for a change. I barely woke up all night. That's rare. Well... back to the kitchen; rice to make. Using hamburger in it this morning. 8:00a - Ok... rice is on. Time to take Kira out. 8:14a - It's a sunny "uwoduh'iga" out this morning. Breezy. Summer is finally here. I guess it will be a short summer this year. I wonder if the winter is going to be a bad one? I got an email this morning asking me to add this "Sean Alonzo" link to my website. I am not sure what it's all about. Oh... I am about one third of the way through the first book of David Eddings "The Tamuli" at present. It is entertaining. 9:58p - I finally got my website updated tonight ("lees place"). I got the Darts page Partially updated, but I need the original Excel files to do it right! I also got my journal page updated. 12:38a - I got some CD's made for Ruby. Not I have to finish printing photos for Anita. Then get everything in the mail. For not though, I need to get me behind in bed! 12:40a - I started storming out around 9:30p. It's still raining, thundering & lightening. I hope Kira lets me get some sleep! I went to Talayna's after work for a couple of beers and a salad. Y'aatb' ums' aavy' iith' aitwufst' orf' iith' erstf' aimte ny' ey' aangl' aimte. I got up around 10:00a this morning. I felt much better than yesterday. Whatever was bothering me seems to have worked its way through. I am glad, because I was really looking forward to PrideFest 2003. I wish I could have taken Kira, but I did not want to have to keep her there all day long. Marty would have picked me up and given us a ride, but I would be stuck there all day. I arrived a little before noon and left around 5 or 6:00p. I had more beer than needed there toward the end and almost fell asleep on the train!
I came home, took a dip in the pool, and ordered Chinese food. I almost fell asleep again waiting for the food to arrive! I took about 60 pictures today, and got few email address to send them to. I sent pictures out in email this evening already. I hope they made it. I had some bounced backs, but I re-sent them with what I hope are the correct addresses. We will see. I got up around 11:00a this morning! I slept solid, but had the usual disturbing dreams. I am getting so used to have these "electric dreams" that it seems almost normal and I am getting to where (like normal) I don't remember them so much. However, last night I remember something about "Mike" (and neighbor, who lives down the hall). Either her was very angry at me, or I was very angry at him about something in this dream. I don't remember which, but I was very angry in the dream. That was the main thing I remembered about it. I scrubbed, mopped and waxed the kitchen floor this morning... or rather, this afternoon. It has been getting a dark oily stain and we don't know where it is coming from. It is still not as clean as I would like, but it is much better. MUCH better! Then I went to Famous-Barr and bought some new clothes. I got some good deals. I bought two pair of Docker pants with a price tag of $55.00 for just $19.99 each. Also got four shirts for 33% off the sticker price. They were $30 and had been marked down to $17.xx. The discount brought them down to $12.49. Plus one more shirt originally $36.00 with 50% off the mark down price brining it to $12.50. In total I paid $121.xx for 5 shirts and 2 pair of pants. Unfortunately, one pair of pants are the wrong size! I will will have to take them back. I was going to go to the pool for a while this afternoon, but was too lazy. It's about 89° and would be a nice day for it. 5:01p - I was thinking I should take Kira for a walk down to The Landing this evening, but, again, I am feeling too lazy. All have have had to eat today are the left over chicken wings from my Chinese food order last night. I just drank a couple of beers too, but I am not too hungry. I still have the quart of Hot & Sour soup left over in the fridge. I think I will thaw out the pork loin I have in the freezer and and bake it. 12:47a - I am still up... about to crash. I have been going over email all evening. 7:10a - Got up and put rice on. 8:55a - Kira's been for her walk. I am slowly waking up. The rice is done and in the bowl. 8:42a - Showered and dressed. Wearing my new blue shirt with big blue "leafy" designs. It feels comfortable. I will wear these shirts untucked. That may be better for my increasing girth, I am sad to say. 8:55a - Time to hit the road.... They are filming some kind of movie across the street from us. I found out later it has something to do with a "Soccer" game back in the 50's or some such. Sounds boring actually. I took a couple of pictures of the scaffolding and such.
It was not a bad day, except that Becky got some bad news about her mother's health over the weekend. It is not looking good from what I have heard, but we are all hoping the best for their family during these trying times. I went to bed early. tonight. |
