Old
Diary - Friday 1997: Left house about 3:30pm - drove to visit Chuck
Welsh in Tampa. Saw his brother, Kevin (and Kevin’s wife, Loretta)
for the first time sine he visited Chuck and I when we were roommates
at Oakridge Apts in 1981 (or 1980?). I was tired. The heat was terrible.
Fireworks were great, but we had to sit in the rain!
Old Diary - 1998: Spent
the Fourth of July in California with Calisa and Family! :)

Today was my first day
of work at Anheuser-Busch.
Old
Diary - Saturday 1997: Chuck and I tried to go see “Men in Black”
but one theatre was sold out and another was showing too late (and was
CROWEDED!). My left eye was swollen and sore this morning.

Old Diary - Sunday 1997:
Left Tampa about 9:30am with Chuck. Dropped him off in Maitland at Signal
Apartments where his newly married niece was moving in. Kevin and Loretta
were there. Came home - still feel sickly tired.

I am on vacation...

SUNDAY
- July 23, 2000
This is my first DIARY
entry on my new site. I’m still trying to decide how I want to
lay it out. I’ve spent almost all day working with NetObjects
Fusion II, my web authoring software, learning its “ins”
and “out” ...
Old Diary - 1993: Chad
Johnson moved in.
THURSDAY
- July 27, 2000
Old Diary - 1984: Calisa
gave birth to her first child - my first niece - Calais Michelle Selfridge.
FRIDAY
- July 28, 2000
Today was my last day
of work with Anheuser-Busch, Inc. (Budweiser AllPro). Maggie brought
in some breakfast goodies and made me a “Best Wishes” sign
... very sweet of her. Then Steve (my supervisor) treated me to a farewell
luncheon. We were joined by Bill Braun (VP of Industry Development,
ABI) and my REAL boss (who I finally met on my last day!) Keith Wortman
(former Greenbay Packer).
It was a very pleasant lunch. We had chicken quesadillas for an appetizer
and I had a seafood risotto laced with asiago cheese for my entrée...
quite delicious!

Didn’t do much
today. Went to see the movie “The Nutty Professor II - The Klumps,”
but it was a disaster. The people were making so much noise I couldn’t
hear the movie. Then a baby started crying and the mother just sat there
and subjected the entire theater to a crying baby. Some woman behind
me kept yelling out obscenities, then someone threw food or ice or something
and some of it hit me. ...oh, and the guy next to me kept flicking his
lighter under the seat like he was looking from something... and he
was yelling to someone back behind us. I couldn’t take any more
and stomped out after about 30 minutes. I missed most of the dialogue
anyway.
I found the manager and said, “I can’t hear anything in
there!”
Before
I could say anything else... he didn’t even ask what I was
talking about... he said, “Okay,” and headed back
toward the theater. I hadn’t even told him what movie I
was watching. I waited out front getting angrier by the moment
till he came back my way. He asked, “is it any better?”
I looked at him
like he was out of his gourd and said, “I’m not going
back in there! I just want my money back!” He still didn’t
bother to ask what happened! He said I would have to go up to
the ticket booth; when they had time (between selling tickets)
they would give me the refund. I went out to the lobby and the
line just went on forever! I would have been waiting for at least
45 minutes. That was more time than I spent in the theater! I
just walked off. I am going to write them a very pointed letter
with copies to whoever I can think of describing just what I think
of their business. This was my second time at that theater and
the first time was a bad experience too!
Oh ... and then
when I got back to Forrest Park it was POURING down rain. I took
off my shirt and wrapped my wallet in it and walked home in the
rain.

Rex ripped me off and moved to Ohio!

Didn’t do much
of anything today. I am re-reading an old science fiction book called
“Shape Changers” [book #1] by Jennifer Roberson. I read
some of that today. I took Kira for a LONG walk through Forrest Park
this evening. I found a nice open place under a big old oak tree...
several actually... where I could turn her loose and she ran all over
till she was exhausted. She was actually walking home slower than me!
I worked on my web site a lot today... and that’s really about
all I’ve done all day. Tomorrow is my “day off” so-to-speak...
then I start my first day of work at Washington University on Tuesday
the first.

Another day of not doing
much (that won’t be the case tomorrow). I got up late... around
8:00am. (Yesterday I slept till noon)! My most notable accomplishment
today was GETTING THIS DIARY WORKING! I have been working for the past
2 days trying to get this thing to work. Unfortunately, the server seems
to have gone down, so I can’t really test it very well. I also
think I found a way to update my site more quickly. The way it has been
working up to this date is, I have to upload the ENTIRE site every time
I make any minor little change. It can take up to 30 to 40 minutes to
update a single typo! I think I have found a way around that problem
by using FTP to transfer only the modified files, which I can sort by
date. Jack & I discussed the idea a week or two ago, but I haven’t
been able to figure out
