7:32a - I had more disturbing dreams last night, but these dealt with doing laundy at two different places and having someone drive me back & forth between the two different locations. 8:02a - It's a beautiful day out this morning!! No jacket required. I was actually sweating a little after I got back in from walking Kira. The tulips and daffodils are blooming. I love Spring! 5:30p - This was a very strange evening at work. Our new employee, Jim, was fired. He was escorted from the building in fact! Apparently he was visiting many pornographic sites, including "incest.com" ... and including these sites on his "favorites" list! Okay... like "duh!!!" 10:33p - I just got home a little bit ago from Talayna's. It was a hectic day at work. I logged over 72 calls! Many of them were MERGES (which DR had a problem with). I am so irritated that I was hired for my Help Desk experience, but no one respects or really even acknowledges my expertise in this field. I am a Help Desk professional. I have been trained and have many years of experience. I know what needs to be done. I have dealt with all this before and know what is required. However, my offices are not "help desk" oriented. They think of us as just slightly above a receptionist ... maybe. At best. I love my job and I am glad I have it, but have worked hard to become a Help Desk professional and in my current capacity, that is not a very respected position. 11:46p - Off to bed! 9:56p - This was a fairly typical day. I made rice this morning with left over wings from Talayna's (from last night). Gary did not like it so much, but I thought it was delicious! We had a fairly normal day until the late evening. Our "new" employee ("Jim") had porn sites on his computer (after only a week!) and (after 5pm) was escorted from the building! How weirdly STUPID of the guy! I can't believe that someone in this industry could be so stupidly careless. I thought he was a bit creepy from our first encounter, but he didn't even last a week! Weird.... 10:55p - I've made some kind of chicken, broccoli dish for supper. It's too hot! I will eat in a few minutes.... 11:05p - I hear the US has taken control of the Saddam Airport in Bahgdad. I guess that is progress.... 7:37a - I had more disturbing dreams this morning, I drempt that planes crashed in the downtown area. There was a chunk taken out of the side of a high-rise and damage was done to what looked like the McKinley bridge (except in was in the wrong place further South than where it should be). I saw the tail of what appeared to be a rather small jet sticking out of the water and floating down the river. I never did find out if they hit my place. I was trying to make my way through the debris, but my alarm went off and woke me before I got there. I woke and hit the snooze button, fell back to sleep and continued my disaster dream. This time I was in a building on the other side of my building. I still did not make it to my building, but someone in the dream told me that our building was not hit. But the dream started to get weird and the person in the dream started to explain that it had been protected by a magical spell. I woke shortly thereafter feeling depressed and exhausted. 7:40a - It's supposed to be stormy today and cooler through the weekend. It already looks overcast outside. Nothing to cheer me up! But, it's Friday/payday and Skip alrady paid me rent money... that helps! 8:52a - We have a meeting at work this morning. It's always so boring ... I hope I don't doze off! This evening has REALLY sucked. I got stood up at Hooter's, then Hooter's tried to rip me off. I ordered a dozen oysters on the half-shell, but only got 11... and the were tiny, puny little things. When I pointed out the error, they tried to suck up to me and it was obvious when they brought out 3 oysters to compensate me. What really bothered me about that is that these oyster's were big and plump! So... the DID have so decent ones in their kitchen and were holding out on me! Then the train ride home was irritating with people smoking on the platform, and when I arrived home, Kira had torn up tissue paper all over the floor and I had to spank her. I am NOT a happy camper! 12:17a - It is time to go to bed. I am in a bad mood. I hope this doesn't affect my dreams TOO much. If I have another friggin' "war" dream, I will be shooting people myself!! 12:22a - Of course... I have to wake Skip first. He just got up and says, "f--k that!" ...and shuts the window which I had just opened because its so stuffy in here. I WANT MY PLACE TO MYSELF AGAIN! Today was chilly, but a nice day. Around 1:30p, Diana and I took Kira for a long walk down by the Arch, along the riverfrong and finally wound up at Planet Hollywood where we sat out on the patio and had a drink. Then we came home and left again, going to Talayna's. We pigged out on pizza, poppers and beer ... well, I had the beer. I spent the rest of the evening at home and didn't do much. 1:46p - This day is sure going fast. Of course, the time moved forward an hour, so that's part of it. I am trying to get some house work done. I did a load of dishes, but there are still more to do. I got my pills organized for the week also. Now I need to dust, vacuum, mop & wax the kitchen and... we will see if I get any of it done.
5:55p - The kitchen & foyer are waxed. I'm getting a little bit done! It's sure is a dismal day outside. Cold and rainy. 6:73p - Floors are waxed, vacuuming is done and I dusted. I didn't really think I would get this much done! Time to take Kira out now... 10:23p - Time for bed and back to work in the morning. I didn't spend a dime today, and I got a lot of house work done. I suppose that's not too bad. Mostly a boring day though. 7:49a - It is looks to be a cold, gray and wet day outside this morning. I am about to take Kira out for her walk and will confirm it for myself in a moment! 8:16a - It's not TOO cold out, but it's wet & gross. 8:43a - Nearly dressed & ready to go. I did not feel like I got a very good night's rest last night, but I seem to be full of energy this morning. Maybe I slept better than I thought. The dreams just seem to wear me out. More email from Marg in Russia today. Li pensas ke li amas min. Li estas ĉarma knabo, sed me ne kredas ke li povas ami min! I met David Course at LZ after work tonight. Nice guy. I emailed him ... hope he responds (so many do not). This was the first time I visited LZ since 3/8/03... Blair was tending bar. Iihe sh'uutkeye. 10:20p - The discussions of who will rule Iraq after the war is a big topic tonight. 11:38p - I am smashed... off to bed!!! Tuesday
- April 8, 2003 8:17a - It's really nasty outside this morning. No sun, drizzling, breezy and cold. Lisa gave me a ride home tonight. We had a discussion about whether or not her car had day-time running lights. I thought it should, since it is a 2000 model. When we arrived home, I got out and checked to see if (when she turned her lights out) the running lights would still be on. They were, much to her amazement. She never realized that her car was so equipped. Before going in, I leaned in the open car door and snidely announced that tomorrow we would examine the back end of her car to see what surprises could be found! This would have been about 6:20pm. Little did we know a twin-engine Grand Aire cargo jet was in the process of crashing in the river a few blocks away!

- April 10, 2003
9:37p - Skip is on his way to work and my supper is still cooking. I am slowly simmering a chicken breast with baby carrots and slices of read bell pepper, heavily sprinkled with poppy seeds. On another burner, I put some frozen spinach which I have been simmering in some water, chicken bouillon and butter. I just added some milk & corn starch, plus a couple of handfuls of fancy shredded cheese. 11:00p - Supper was delicious. Dishes are washing. I wish Skip would take on some house cleaning chores. He could vacuum, clean the bathroom, mop a floor... anything. He just doesn't. It's depressing. Friday
- April 11, 2003
Today was such a beautiful day. I got up as early as I could. Diana and I went down to Soulard Market, around 9 or 10am. I spent over $38 on spices alone! I probably spent about $70 total. Then I came home and my next trip was to Walgreen's where I spent another $65. Finally, Kira and I took a long walk in the downtown area. I called it my "Tulip Walk." I was taking pictures, mostly of Tulips. I got some spectacular shots! Kira and I were both tuckered out after all the walking. I was going to go out and party a little, but I was just too tired. Getting too old I guess. I just picked up some beer from next door and sat at home. Sunday
- April 13, 2003 Today was a lazy day. I had two main chores to accomplish, but did neither of them. I needed to get laundry done and go to my monthly Esperanto meeting. I just couldn't get motivated to do anything. I think I was still tired from yesterday, and the beer last night did not help. It was surprising but wonderful news to hear the seven prisoners held by Iraqi forces were recovered today. I hesitate to say "rescued" since they were turned over by Iraq, and I hesitate to call them "heroes" since they were captured by the enemy (there is nothing heroic in that), but I am very glad to hear that they are alive and relatively well. Their families must be SO relieved! However, I can't help but to think of the thousands of Iraqi, both military and civilian, who have died as a result of our "invasion" and the hundreds or thousands of Iraqi families who will only be grieving over their loss. None of them asked for this any more than we did. They have been the most unfortunate victims in this war, and my heart goes out to them. 12:15a - I have been catching up my journal for the past couple of hours. I need to get to bed. I dozed on the sofa earlier and now I am too much awake. 12:30a - Okay... bedtime!! 10:05p - As I expected, today was a beautiful day, but I spent it all indoors at work. I got my medical bill problem figured out. I still owe them $100. They took so long to process my order which I placed in Feb 24, and I had to cancell my Debit card during that time, that they had to bill me for the remaining $100. I also requested some order forms and put one of my prescriptions in to be refilled this afternoon (I will pick it up Wednesday at lunch). 10:07p - Some Chemical Weapons Laboratories were found buried in Iraq today. There are about 146 suspected sites to investigate and 7 are under investigation at present. There is a list of about 5000 names of scientists to question about WMD. Syria is getting stiff warnings and threats of sanctions from the US. It's a scary time in the world, once again. 10:09p - Back to domestic issues: We begin playing our summer dart league tomorrow; I created a FAMILY mail list on jubchuQun; and Kira appears to have yakked up some massive hairballs by the window today... yuck; there were problems resulting from a power outage AND a HIPAA related security change which had much of our MSCNS subnet out of commission for over half the day. Tuesday
- April 15, 2003 I we started our Summer dart season tonight. I did exceptionally well. I played 8 games and won 7, taking 4 or 5 of them out myself! That puts me at #5 in the league at this point. However, I drank a bit too much, stayed up too late and forgot (for the first time) to take my meds! Wednesday
- April 16, 2003 I got the dart page updated tonight. It still needs some work, but it's just about there. Thursday
- April 17, 2003 Not too much happening today. I decided that I am definitely going to take a trip to California to see Jack, Adam and family. Skip is going to have me get him a new phone. I started logging bills in the "www.wheresgeorge.com" website and ordered a circular stamp to facilitate this. Friday
- April 18, 2003 I ordered my plane tickets ($231) for my trip to California today; and I ordered Skip's phone, a Nokia 1260. There is supposed to be a customer promotional rebate, and a mail in rebate which, after shipping & taxes should mean I pay a total of just $17.25. We will see! I took Diana out for her 47th birthday tonight. We went to Hooters where we shared a Buffalo Platter and some beer, then we went down to the President Casino (she had never been). I did not do so well as last week. Spent more & won less. However, just before we were going to leave, discovered I had $2 of quarter tokens in my pocket, so I put them in a slot machine. I made over $14 off of it! If the whole night would have gone that way I would have been quite pleased! We left the President and went to Calico's (we took the shuttle bus, which conveniently dropped us off right up front!). After some more beers and some tasty quesadillas, we walked back home. Then I had a couple more beers which were in the 'fridge and dawdled on the computer until nearly 3am! I felt awful this morning, but Kira insisted I get up and take her out. I was nearly sleep walking her, until she saw a squirrel in the garage (as usual) went bonkers. I came back in and went back to bed until about noon. 2:30p - I got up and fixed some potato puff things, stuffed with chicken. I kind of made it up as I went. They're tasty! (Kira likes them too!). 2:32p - In the news today, SARS continues to spread and more people have died from it. It appears to be in Canada and India now; that's scary. The Iraq situation seems to be stabilizing, if slowly. They found $650 million US Dollars in sealed aluminum cases. President Busch has called for lift of the sanctions against Iraq, but now France is opposed to lifting the sanctions! This is getting ridiculous! Meanwhile, why is Syria blocking her borders? Is she hiding hiding high-ranking Iraqi refugees and/or weapons of mass destruction? I think this is a major concern for the world in more ways than one! 2:41p - Skip is downstairs reading on the promenade and I am getting bored & sleep here. Time to figure out something to do. 9:30p - I just got home from watching the movie "Bullet-Proof Monk" at Union Station. It was very good and I enjoyed it. On the train, on the way home, I chatted with a family visiting from Paragould, Arkansas, Jack's "hometown." How odd. Monday
- April 21, 2003 It was not too cold when I took Kira for her walk this morning, but by the time I left for work, it was 57 degrees and dropped to 56 before I could get to the train station. I was cold when I came home. Skip's new phone arrived this evening. I set it up for him and had it charging for when he got up. Wednesday
- April 23, 2003 I was very tired at work today. Wednesdays are such a strain since I play darts on Tuesday night. Also, I have been forgetting to take my BP med (Atenalol) for 2 days! Oops! So, I took one pill this morning and one this evening. Oh, and guess who stopped by to visit? DONNY! From last Marti Gras. He just arrived from San Francisco and is traveling to see friends in Ohio. He is hitch-hiking. I gave him a place to stay, fixed some festive rice pilaf (go figure!), let him bathe and gave him a heavily perfumed bed to sleep in. Yenge, iiw' idench' uud' enyiiningthe. I got my "Where's George" stamp today! So... everyone visit http://www.wheresgeorge.com and register your bills! Its fun! Thursday
- April 24, 2003 I gave Donny a roll of quarters, and a bowl of pork rice to see him on his way this morning. It is a nasty morning to see anyone hit the road. Wet, rainy and cold. This weather sucks! It's almost May and its still cold! Someone should sue. I haven't heard from Marg (in Russia) for several days. Maybe he is stopping to get a grip on his own life? He's a wonderful kid, but this would probably be a good idea for him. I got the $50 phone rebate into the mail today (on Skip's new Nokia 1260). 10:57p - I'm full... off to bed.... 8:50a - It's cloudy and chilly, even though its almost May! What a dismal morning, EXCEPT that is IS Friday! YAY! That's always a good point! I went to Hooter's tonight and go questionable service yet again! It seems to happen a lot when I go there by myself. So, I just tipped only $1 ... which is far lower than I normally tip. 1:22a - I just created my first "subscribable mailing list" for pictures. We will see how it goes! Mean while, I must be off to bed.... Today was a nice day. I went to Soulard Market and took a lot of "market" pictures; I went to Walgreen's; I took Kira for a short walk; and this evening I went to Clem's and had a few drinks.
Marty was on a camping trip. I could have gone with him, but I did not want to deal with it.
I had very disturbing dreams last night. One involved my ex-sister-in-law, Clara. She was a police woman driving a police car. I was a passenger. Someone was shooting at us and shot Clara. I dove out the passenger side and lay face down pretending to be dead, or at least "no threat" to the villain. I never looked up, but I heard the bad-guy passing me by. Suddenly there was a blast and I felt a jarring sensation in my back. I think he shot me! I woke up in horror... Then I had another dream about my brother, Kenneth. This was a very strange dream in which we were supposedly traveling across country by horse back from Washington state to Texas. However, we both needed to hitch a wagon to each of our horses so we could take our personal belongings along (this seemed to be an unexpected "extra"). Then, to make matters worse, we were told by our biological father, Roy Terrell (who, in my dream, appeared to be black or Hispanic, or maybe Australian aboriginal?), that we must take a cow along in order to provide us with milk for our journey. Then we discovered that both cows (one each) had a calf, and the calf had to go with us too! But wait! There's more! At the last moment before leaving I was told that it would take us more than a week to travel ONE WAY. I had only 4 or 5 days of vacation, yet our trip was now going to take 3-4 weeks! The dream was becoming increasingly complex and I was becoming more and more vexed and frustrated. Then I woke up. That's how my day started. I was angry, frustrated, confused, and I had been shot in the back for nothing just to add to the insults! I went to Talayna's for a "couple" after work. I am still reading "Polgara," but I am getting near the end (approaching page 600). I delayed coming home since Skip had forewarned me that Kira had "an accident" this afternoon. She had had a couple more by the time I got home. It was fairly gross and I was slamming things and really NOT a happy camper! 11:30 - Time for bed. Skip just left for work (on his only 12:00a-8:30a schedule.... he was happy; but it is just for tonight). I made some macaroni which I mixed with a can of Campbell's chicken & rice, plus a pinch of extra chicken and a handful of veggies (celery, onion, & bell pepper mix). It was pretty tasty! Yum!!
I had a call from Scott & Helen today. The were traveling through St. Louis and stopped by to see me. I went to Talayna's for a while and continued to read my book (still reading "Polgara the Sorceress"). Then I met them down in front of Planet Hollywood. We walked down to the Admiral and the President Casino. I made it home by around 1:00am, but I was VERY tired!
Despited appearances, Scott and Helen did not spend their entire visit talking on the cell phone... |
